IAC Names Sunil Koparkar Vice President of India Operations

PUNE, INDIA (April 30, 2019) – International Automotive Components (IAC) Group, a global automotive and mobility leader in lightweight and new-material interior solutions, has named Sunil Koparkar as vice president of operations for India, Japan and Thailand, effective immediately. Based at the company’s Pune, India location, Koparkar will oversee the operations and growth strategy for the three countries. He replaces Gajanan Gandhe, who will leave the company next month for a new opportunity.“We are very fortunate to have someone of Sunil’s caliber to lead the team and our operations in these countries,” said IAC President Nat Rea. “His track record of driving operational improvements and growth are going to be a tremendous advantage for IAC as we expand in this region.”Koparkar brings 30 years of operational and leadership experience to this position. He joins IAC, from Armstrong Fluid Technologies, Inc., where he served as Director of Global Operations. In that role, he implemented production efficiencies and Lean concepts that improved lead times and waste reduction and streamlined processes. Prior to that, Koparkar was Vice President of Operations for ABC Group, Inc., where he was credited with improving plant efficiency from 70% to 75% and launched a greenfield manufacturing site in Poland in under six months. Before that, Sunil held various operational leadership roles with global manufacturing companies including KN Rubber, Tectrol, Alcyone Technologies, Magna International and MSB Plastics.

Koparkar earned Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Basel, Switzerland and a bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering from SBM Polytechnic in Mumbai, India.
